Actuarial Consulting
The Benefits Group comprises just under half the revenues of Watson Wyatt’s European region and is a practice with a distinguished history. It has a strong track record of delivering high levels of growth and profitability. The historic strength of the Benefits practice in the European region has been the foundation on which the broader Watson Wyatt business has been built.
This having been said, it is not a business that is stuck in the past. We have a strong sense of momentum, through organic growth and acquisitions in key strategic markets. We also have an exceptional client list, built over many years. Our focus is on large organisations (FTSE 350, Global 500 or equivalents). These world class organisations have significant, complex and evolving benefit arrangements with their workforces. Our Associates provide consulting services that are critical to the financial health and success of these businesses within a commercial and legislative environment that is constantly changing. In the UK, we are actuarial advisors to approximately half of the top 100 corporate pension funds, significantly more than any of our major competitors.
We are recognised by clients, prospects and our competitors as having a concentration of some of the best consultants in the business, backed up by thought leadership and research capabilities that are second to none.
In a recent comparison, Watson Wyatt scored higher than our closest competitors in nine out of ten brand attributes, with clients acknowledging the quality of our people as being a clear differentiator.
Our Associates also play important roles in the development and leadership of the actuarial profession and the wider pensions environment in the UK e.g.
- Nick Dumbreck - President of the Institute of Actuaries
- Ian Farr - Chairman of the ACA
- Alan Pickering - former Chairman of NAPF Stephen Yeo – a leading commentator on pensions issues
Trainee vacancies within the Benefits Group
We hire trainees into three different areas within the Benefits Group:- Actuarial Consulting
- Non-Actuarial/DC Consulting
- Pensions Technical Unit
You can find out more about each by following the links to the left of this page.
In addition to the exposure and opportunities trainees receive within their own teams though, there is also a rotational programme in place that provides them with opportunities to work in different parts of the practice and to develop their understanding of linked services. We also facilitate secondments to other practices within the UK or internationally where there is a match between the needs of the business and the aspirations of our Associates to broaden their experience within Watson Wyatt.
